Nicholas van der Bijl served 24 years as a Regular in the British Army in armour, military intelligence and security and finally as an infantry officer in the Territorial Army. He spent most of his time overseas and saw an active service in Northern Ireland and with 3rd Commando Brigade during the Falklands conflict. In 1979 he was awarded the British Empire Medal for security duties. Nicholas will be advising on script production and historical accuracy. He is a well-known author on British military history, having written two well-received books, Nine Battles to Stanley (Pen&Sword, 1999) and Argentine Forces in the Falklands (Osprey, 1992). He has also written several articles on the conflict such as the Argentine account of the landings at Port San Carlos for British Army Review. Other books include Royal Marines 1939-1993 (Osprey, 1994) and Brean Down Fort (Hawkeditions, 2000). He is currently writing a history of 5th Infantry Brigade in the Falklands. |
