Take These Men For Your Example.
Like them, remember that prosperity Can be only for the free, that freedom Is the sure possession of those alone who Have the courage to defend it. James Robinson |
I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade When dawn comes up with rustling shade And the dawn chorus fills the air I have a rendezvous with Death When the day breaks bright and fair. It may be he shall take my hand And lead me into his dark land And close my eyes and quench my breath It may be I shall pass him still. I have a rendezvous with Death On some scarred slope of Limbang hill And I pledge my word to my comrades true I shall not miss that rendezvous. Brian Downey |
Brave men one and all
Together united they stood tall. So many lives were sadly lost Remembering them always. Bryan Underwood |

| No war is small. Each brings terror and loss into someone's life and diminishes all of us in someway. Let's work for a world in which our youths are not sacrificed. Let's work for a world in which courage is spent on peace. LLyn De Danaan aka Patterson |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Those of us that remain must forever strive to ensure that their sacrifice was not in vain. Their memory and example will linger on. David Morris |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It is my sincere hope that by making this documentary the ultimate sacrifices these men made will not be forgotten. Martin Spirit |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Adrian and I remember with gratitude the sacrifices made by so many 40 years ago in the rescue of our parents, and others, in Limbang. We treasure the continuing friendships that have developed out of that initial contact. The "Double 12th" remained an important date in our parents' lives and continues to do so in ours. We owe the life we have had, in no small measure, to the events in Limbang. Geraldine Bull and Adrian Morris (son and daughter of the late Dick and Dorothy Morris) |

That in the years of youth and friends
When ones life is fashioned for it end You miss those friends so full of life Who paid the ultimate sacrifice John (Bill) Bailey |

| I am very proud to have served with those comrades who gave their lives, showing great courage in the true tradition of the Corps. You will always be remembered. Les. Wakeling |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| I am very proud to have served with these men who laid down their lives to save others in their time of need. They will always be remembered in the time honoured way of the Royal Marines. Tony Daker |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| It is a source of considerable pride for us sailors to have gone into action alongside the Royal Marines. We recall with affection the comradeship and the many good times. We regret the loss of our comrades and the Sarawak police officers. May they all Rest in Peace. Peter Down HMS FISKERTON |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| They gave their lives so that others may live in peace, a peace that today still prevails. The people of Limbang have not forgotten their ultimate sacrifice and neither should we. At the going down of the sun, and in the morning, we will remember them. John W F Benetts |
||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| On this 40th Anniversary of the Limbang Raid I would like to express my profound thanks and appreciation to all the Royal Marines and other British Armed Forces that brought safety and stability to all in Sarawak, Brunei, and North Borneo (Sabah). On behalf of those of us who were in the US Peace Corps, we thank you for you freeing Fritz Klattenhoff and the other hostages in Limbang. We will always remember those who gave their lives defending freedom and peace. Andy Powers |
